The journey to Kikuletwa Hotsprings, also known as Rundugai Hot Springs or more commonly as Chemka Hot Springs, will begin on a paved road heading toward Arusha before making a left turn onto a gravel road after around 30 minutes. The drive will lead you by bush terrain, dry riverbeds, baobab and acacia trees, among many other beautiful African landscapes.

Members of numerous tribes peacefully coexist as neighbors in this large region, which was once exploited by European hunters in the 1800s. Even though the game has long since moved on, numerous animal species, especially various birds, still find refuge there.

Itineraries

Day 1

DRIVE TO CHEMKA HOT SPRINGS

In the midst of this semi-arid landscape, Kikuletwa town will appear as an oasis surrounded by swaying fig trees. The term "Hotsprings" comes from the crystal clear water that bubbles up from deep caverns and appears to be boiling.

Following a picnic lunch, we will begin traveling back to Moshi on back gravel roads, passing the Kilavu River and sugar cane farms for around 30 minutes before reaching Moshi in the late afternoon.

The property offers car rentals, and biking and diving are popular in the surrounding area. Kikuletwa Hot Springs is 1.9 kilometers from the Chemka Hot Springs Campsite.

Kilimanjaro Airport is the closest airport, located 11.3 kilometers from Chemka Hot Springs Campsite.
